Tour of the World

Yesterday Kylee and Nathan along with their school mates presented the Tour of the World. They had to each prepare projects for their classes country. Kylee did her project on Israel in Asia. She had to create a tri-fold poster board about Israel as well as an A-Z informational book on Israel. It was a three week long project. Her teacher was so impressed with her poster that she asked to keep it! Of course my scrapbooking supplies helped a little:-) Nathan did his project on the Deserts of Arizona. He had to pick an animal from the Sonoran Desert to write a report on and prepare a habitat. He picked the roadrunner. He had a lot of fun with it.
Here is Kylee typing away. She is working on one of her letters for Israel.

The completed poster board. Kylee did a great job with the information on Israel as well as the pictures she chose to add to her poster board. I think this was her favorite part of the project.

Here is Nathan's roadrunner project. You can see the roadrunner in dark gray towards the bottom of the habitat. To the left of it is a coyote and to the right in the back is a javelina. It is hard to see but he drew the picture in the background all by himself. I showed it in a previous blog. He went in the backyard and picked some weeds and gathered some authentic desert dirt as well as some rocks to make the habitat.

Here is the Earth Balloon that the kids spent this week learning about. There is a company that rents these gigantic 19 foot tall balloons that teach the kids about the earth. They were actually able to go inside of it and see the earth from the inside. Kylee said it made her dizzy. The PTO for our school paid for the balloon and our principle was super generous and paid for the deposit. Fortunately the Earth Balloon made it back to the company in one piece:-)

Here are the kids holding up the earth. Nathan's cheeks are painted with African markings from when he went to visit the 5th graders version of Africa.
